This report, prepared for an independent unit within the International Energy Agency, provides a comprehensive overview of the future of renewable energy policy in a world in which renewables are increasingly the least-cost sources of new energy supply. The report introduces a number of important new concepts for understanding the evolution of renewable energy policy, including the Policy Bedrock, the key elements of the enabling environment that remain critical to a sustained scale-up of renewables regardless of how inexpensive renewable energy technologies become.
