Despite having among the highest shares of coal-fired power in its electricity mix of any country in the world, there are signs that opportunities in the country’s renewable energy sector are starting to open up, driven by a combination of factors including increasingly cost-competitive solar PV, easy access to capital, and a new transmission line connecting the region to its neighbor, Albania.
As a result, investments in customer-sited solar PV projects are becoming economic in the country, creating new opportunities in the country’s electricity sector.
